Thermally Conductive Epoxy Adhesives

 

Thermally-Conductive-Epoxy 

The Cova Scientific adhesive formulator network offers a variety of thermally conductive products designed to provide the highest possible continual heat transfer. These solutions offer thermal conductivity as high as 2.2 W/mK for alumina loaded systems and 4 W/mK for boron nitride loaded epoxies. Thermally conductive adhesives can be used for a wide range of applications such as encapsulating sensors, LED heat management, potting electronics, and heat sink bonding among many other examples. 

As pure substances, our filler materials exhibit the following levels of thermal conductivity:

  • Diamond: 2,300 W/mK
  • Boron nitride: 360 W/mK
  • Aluminum oxide: 30 W/mK

In general, epoxies filled with each of these respective materials proceed in the same progression of thermal conductivity. Diamond filled epoxies can achieve the highest thermal conductivity, followed by boron nitride, and finally aluminum oxide. The following example adhesives are produced by Globally Harmonized Adhesives.

1. Tabular Alumina Filled Epoxy

  • VeckTC-B: Rigid alumina filled epoxy. High thermal conductivity. Glossy black color. Cures at room temperature. Two part epoxy. Two to one mix ratio.
  • VeckTC-FL: Flexible alumina filled epoxy. High thermal conductivity. Glossy black color. Cures at room temperature. Two part epoxy. One to one mix ratio.
  • VeckTC-FR: Flame retardant alumina filled epoxy. High thermal conductivity. Cures at room temperature. Two part epoxy.
  • VeckTC-FT: Fast curing alumina filled epoxy. High thermal conductivity. Cures at room temperature. Two part epoxy.

2. Diamond Filled Epoxy

  • Diamond-007: Diamond filled epoxy. Ultra-high thermal conductivity. Cures with heat. One part epoxy. 

3. Boron Nitride Filled Epoxy

  • VeckTC-BN: Epoxy filled with a blend of boron nitride and aluminum oxides. Very high thermal conductivity. Cures at room temperature. Two part epoxy.
